I like!

Once again, this has a sound QUITE reminiscent of Hans Zimmer's work in "Crimson Tide." I liked the acoustical guitar work, but throwing in some guitar fret noises with the guitar could make it sound more realistic.

madboss responds:

Now you gave me a great idea. Frankly I haven't thought about that when I was using that guitar sound. Thanks for the idea and for the rev!

Ooh, I like.

It sounds very "Crimson Tide"-ish, do you listen to a lot of Hans Zimmer stuff? Anyway, I liked this, but it could use a bit more orchestration in the beginning.

madboss responds:

Haha... yes I love Hans Zimmer stuff! Altough I wanted to make some Rock-like music - I think the beginning horns made you to think of Crimson Tide.

I don't wanted to have a big orchestration in the beginning because this series was not meant to be too epic - but yeah maybe some more classical instruments would work better in the beginning.

Thanks for the rev!

Good work.

This sounds very Legend of Zelda-ish...and that's a great thing! I like the flute and percussion most of all. The glocken that accompanies the lead brass is a nice touch. I think that the rhythmic percussion in the background is great, but should be more panned back and forth, like how I do it in my more recent songs, but that's just the Metal Gear Solid influence in me talking.

The only complaint I have is that I don't like how it fades out, I'd much prefer it to loop.

quickshot-x responds:

oh sorry about the ending, i just like to make things fade out, it's like a little habit you know, and making the rythmic percussion pan back and forth, i like the way it is really :p thanks for the review sir.

Nice.

The acid-ish bass synth is good for a dark mood and the synth bells really set up a mysterious "x-files" feeling. To improve, you could add in more sounds, like have a slow, growly synth in the background or something. Choirs work well too :)

Nice job.

I can't give high points for originality, but the instrumentation (is that even a word?) is high-quality. The sounds and samples are great, too. However, I find it not "thrash"-y enough. If I were you, I'd enhance the drums a bit, too, but that's just me.

Buoy responds:

NOT trashy enough? >:-(
Thanks for the review.

All right!

Piano keys + High Strings = Tension and Awesomeness.

Add in the drums and electronics and you get a tense, powerful menu theme!

And is that a choir I hear in the background?

Awesome.

Nice.

The opening strings were already nearly enough to move me to tears. Add in a light piano playing in the high register and whaddaya get? Sadness. The tinkling bells were an awesome touch as well. The instruments and composition are high-quality.

Get a job. Making music. Score the next drama or action movie. Become the next John Williams. DO IT.

Meh.

I can tell that you're just getting started with Fruity Loops. You appear to have not moved beyond the piano roll. Do not fear, as I have come to make you better!

You can start by bringing more instruments into the mix. FL presets can sound FANTASTIC when they're used correctly. Remember that melodies and countermelodies are cool. Drum loops are better varied. The 3xOsc is wicked, and the sytrus kicks ass. Reeverb and EQUO are your friend.

And check out the Fruity Loops Help Thread in the Audio Forum.

Let's toast to your potential as a musician! And remember, HAVE FUN WITH IT!

BlackPlastic responds:

I shall take your suggestions into mind.

OMG!

This piece is fucking SCARY! I was listening to it, and my friend(who didn't know what I was listening to) tapped me on the shoulder and scared the BEJEEZUS out of me.
It sounds a little X-files-ish, and the wierd voice makes me think of aliens and Roswell...don't ask me why...

In short, fantastic piece, even if I am too scared to listen to it anymore. It sounds very professional. You could go to work scoring a horror videogame or movie right now if you wanted to!

Dj-Rec0il responds:

haha thats good that you got scared thats the goal of this song to sound scary and the voices are recorded by me that i rewind and put some delay on and im glad you liked it cya soon buddy peace

Review:

The synths are pretty good-quality, but the high-pitched synth at the beginning was a bit too high and grating. I liked the use of the synth-choir in the midsection of the song. And the drums were good, high-quality samples that were put in a very ear-pleasing rhythm!
