Chainsaw time!

Heh...I like saws as much as Fighter from "8-Bit theater" loves swords!

The distortion and echo on the plucked-trancey-things was very nice. This is, like, your best song! You're getting to the point where you're awesome! You've really left all those crappy drum riffs behind!

This sounds really appropriate in one of the Megaman games or something. You know, Megaman music was inspired by a combination of techno and rock. Hmmm...do I see your future? Making kickass VG music?

Best way to improve it: make it easier to loop.

demoninabottle responds:

Wow, I'm glad my scores from you are steadily rising. Thanks!

Nice.

The piano or bell or celesta or maybe organ thing or whatever it is really captured the unknown thing for me, it was better than your first song. I hope that you improve with every single song you do.

what program are you using? Your stuff sounds pretty synthetic and videogame-ish(not that that's a bad thing;)!). Are you using GarageBand, FruityLoops, Reason, Gigastudio, or Finale?

Dunnanunna responds:

Lol well im really cheap. Im using finalenotepad. I want to make a videogame song. I cant really buy any good audio programs, seeing as they are all 100+ dollars. I like music, but id rather waste money playing videogames than making thier music. Then again... i am getting a.... uhhh.... what do they call it? A joob... jorb...jib....Job! Thats it, im getting a job this summer (hopefully) And ill probably buy a really cheap audio program. But if you know any free audio programs (other than finalenotepad and anvil studio) please tell me so i can have better material. Finalenotepad is too limited with its instuments, but i like being able to put the notes dirctly on the music sheet. Anvil studio has a ton of instruments, but i have to use the piano thingy... and i don't play piano....

Sevens across the board!

It's kinda not classical, I can tell that you used some brass styruses, but that's not enough.
Look up "Soundfonts" on Google. You'll find a site called HammerSounds. It has a bunch of these things called "Soundfonts." You download them into the "Soundfonts" folder of the FL Studio Data folder(in the program files). You'll find some much better instruments. They're so good, you'd be crazy not to use theme.

Onto your song(now that my rant is over). The title doesn't really fit with me very well, it doesn't seem so "Harbringer of Joy-ish". Maybe get another person to title your songs for you. I can tell that you're taking time and working hard, you just need better titles and instruments.

Check out some of my new audio!

demoninabottle responds:

Okay, thanks for the constructive critisism. I'll be sure to review some of your new music.

It's nice.

But a little too cheerful for me, and seems a bit too fanfare-ish to be "taking a walk in a garden." On a different note, this is much better than my first audio submission! You show lots of promise.

Dunnanunna responds:

Lol I have limited audio making skills... seeing as i have no money to buy better audio programs. But oh well. I am improving by the day (mostly with rythim_man's help), and my next ones.... still cheerful. I dunno why, but i can never choose the right instruments. That is the only problem i have......and making the right tune....... Ill start on a "darker" song

Woah, me? Showing promise? Cool! Thanks man, still loving your work btw

It's good.

It's not quite my taste, but I can tell that it's good. The beat is a nice one. The tremolo guitar was a nice touch near the end, it was pretty unexpected. The biggest problem with this is that it ends abruptly and doesn't loop properly. Fix that and this song will be even better!

Check out some of my new audio(I actually made an original song for once!)

TheSuitcase responds:

Sure can do

WOOHOO!

All right, now this is something a guy can really dance to! I like the variety, solidity, and substance in this song! It's your best to date!

demoninabottle responds:

thanks man!

Nicer!

You're really getting better. Have you been using the FPC instrument that I told you about? I think you have...

I like the solid tune, and how it increases in speed. You're getting a lot better at music creation.

demoninabottle responds:

thanks.

Great job!

This is pretty awesome, the instruments are a little flat to me, but maybe it's just my headphones. I just got new headphones and everything sounds a bit muted. I'm not too big of a fan of the little beepy intro you added before the organs came in, but you didn't make it too long, and that's good. I like the kick and sidestick drums as well, and I think you sped up the tempo a bit. You did, right?

The only big problem is that it doesn't loop properly. It would have to wind itself down and make a short outro to match the intro to make it loop properly.

You did a great job!

TheSuitcase responds:

Yep, I sped up the tempo.
I like it faster
:D

Looks at armedazn's review

It's amazing how so many people are caught in the "DJ XBrav is a midi-ripper" that they will think that everything you do is midi-ripped. Stupid, stupid humans. You, unlike most midi-rippers, actually have composing talent of your own, and you just did midi-rips when you wanted a fast and easy remake of a VG song(am I right, or am I right?). Let me guess, you started playing piano at age 8 and started composing at age 12? That's how most famous composers start!

XBrav responds:

When I was using midi rips, I was learning the musical algorithms behind popular songs. I appologize if in my learning experience I wanted to share with the world a nice revision I compiled together from these midis. We've all been there. Get over it. I learnt piano when I was like 12, and I've been messing with music since.

Amazing.

How one to three instruments can accomplish so much. It's a great remix of ParagonX9's "Defcon Zero", which we hear just about every time we go on the AP! Marvelous emotional power, and it loops perfectly!

Rythim-Man responds:

I was unsure whether I should mention it was Defcon Zero or not. I mean anyone who visits the audio portal knows it's not my original idea.

I made this when I was in love with the guitar.

Now I'm in love with the piano again <3
